Analysis Of The Art Piece Name Yo Mama s Last Supper By Cox

In this essay I am going to conduct an â€Å"Australian Bushman† approach to analyze the art piece name Yo Mama’s Last Supper by Cox. Later on in the essay, I will include contextualization of the analysis. This art piece portrays a darker colored woman in the middle with twelve men sitting at the table, six men on each side. She is not wearing any sort of garments except for a simple white cloth around her spread out arms. All men are divided into three-men group based upon similar actions. The man immediate right to the woman is the only man with paler skin color. On the table, there are feast of fruits, vegetables, bread, and drinks. Now, I must conduct a conceptualization in this analysis. The combination of nakedness and white cloth that are worn around her arms could be to symbolize the purity and holiness of female body, or, it could be a symbolism for the persisting sexism in the world. It highlights the fact that women are only seen as a mere sex object from men in the world. This can be seen from the gaze and expression of other man at the table. From the title of this art piece, it tells us that this woman is posing as Jesus Christ; she is spreading her arm out like Jesus depicted in the iconic painting by Leonardo Da Vinci. Instead of Jesus being a man, Cox used herself, a woman, to represent Jesus. The fact that the Bible is based upon Jesus and his twelve disciples, which all are male, tells us that there is a patriarchal and sexist sense embedded within the

More specifically, this passage followed First Thessalonians 4:1-12. This was the clear turning point in the letter where Paul went from being happy about the Thessalonians faith to instructing them on how to do better. In verse one, Paul wrote, â€Å"Finally,† which marked the transition, and went on to write, â€Å"we ask and urge you in the Lord Jesus, that as you received from us how you ought to walk and to please God, just as you are doing, that you do so more and more.† Paul then went on to clarify some teachings about sexuality and brotherly love (1 Thessalonians 4:2-12). Presumably, Paul instructed on these topics specifically because some of the Thessalonians had been struggling in these areas. This section immediately followed First Thessalonians 3:6-13 which detailed Timothy’s report to Paul on his visit to Thessalonica. Since Timothy would have told Paul the problems the Thessalonians had been dealing with, it would make sense that Paul would have a ddressed them after discussing Timothy’s report. Since First Thessalonians 4:13-18 followed this section of the letter, Paul would have continued to discuss problems the Thessalonians were facing at the time. First Thessalonians 4:13 would confirm this thought because Paul stated in it, â€Å"we do not want you to be uninformed.† Clearly, this section was about correcting misinformation that was a problem in the Thessalonian church at the time. I believe that the murder of Desdemona was an honor killing. Othello thought that Desdemona brought him dishonor and gave him a bad reputation. While Othello was manipulated into murdering Desdemona, he was the one that had the physical choice. He asked Iago, â€Å"how shall I murder him† [IV, i, 136]. It is more contemplated and decided than Desdemona. The contrasts between his thoughts on the two were considerable. Othello’s immediate thought about Cassio was â€Å"kill him† but he was more torn up about Desdemona. When explaining why he killed her to Emilia, he said â€Å"she turn’d to folly, and she was a whore† [V, iii, 146]. He didn’t care to listen to Desdemona. Othello killed her because he thought there was no other way to repair his reputation. He couldn’t live with the shame of an unfaithful wife. It was his honor versus his love, and he chose honor. This turns out to be the main theme of the story. If reputation were not a factor, Desdemona would not be dead. In the end of Othello, reputation trumps all else. A group of students gets swept away by their teachers enthusiastic spirit, and they decide to reorganize ?The Dead Poets Society?, a select club which used to meet in a cave when the professor attended school, to experience inspiration through poetry. The inspirational impact he has on his students backfires when the schools board of trustees finds out about the unorthodox teaching methods that go on in the classroom. One of his students commits suicide after the boys father, a very controlling man, rejects his son and his enthusiasm for acting and the stage. Professor Keatings doesnt follow textbooks or the curriculum, but teaches from his heart. Unlike his conservative colleagues, Keating employs decidedly unorthodox teaching methods and strives to teach more than just his subject matter, which is poetry. His goal is to inspire his students to suck the bone of life to the marrow, to seize the day and to make their lives extraordinary. In Keatings class, you learn passion, courage, romanticism, and, of course poetry. You pass if you avoid conformity and find your own voice, and you fail if you neglect to live life to the fullest. The impact that professor Keatings has on his students is eternal. His spirit will probably always live in his students hearts. Any teacher who is like Keatings is priceless. He wasnt just teacher of academics but a teacher of life. I have had some teachers similar to Professor Keatings, whom I will always remember. Professor Keatings techniques were unconventional but they inspired his students to the fullest. This film relates to the Intro to Education 150 course because the course is designed to cause one to reflect broadly on just what it takes to be an effective teacher. The course content, like the film, Dead Poets Society, helps us to focus our passion and interests in teaching.Education

Aztecs essays Around the early 13th century the Aztecs left their homes in Atzlan and started wandering through the Valley of Mexico. Living as mostly gathers in a migratory lifesyle, the Aztecs struggled to survive. They were eventually enslaved by another tribe. The Aztecs were, at this time, poor scruffy people, who were enen know to consume vermin, snakes and stolen food. They were rejected by mostly all of the surounding tribes. Basically they spent most of their time migrating from one place to another. Early in the 14th century, approximately 1325, Tenoch, their cheiftain, had a vision where, Huitzilopochtli appeared and told him to lead his people to a swampy island in the center of Lake Texcoco. The Aztecs belived that Huitzilopochtli, their "war god" was their protector and helped them search for the promised land. The Aztecs practiced out of a book known as the Tira de la Peregrinacion, also called the Migration Scrolls. After reaching the island in the cener of Lake Texcoco, the Aztecs saw an eagle on the top of a cactus. They took this as a sign that this was where they were supposed to build their city. Their city was called Tenochtitlan, also know as the city of Tenoch. At first life in thier new city was difficult for the Aztecs due to thier new, undesirable location. The city was located in a swampy marsh in the middle of an island, making the recources that the Aztecs new how to use extremely limited. At first the Aztecs just built mud huts to live in and a few small temples. They farmed by intaking an agricultural system called the Chinampas, which eventully made the land fertile and highly productive. The Aztecs also used fishing, hunting, and gathering techniques. The Valley rivers were filled with fish, insects, tadpoles, shrimp, and this extremely odd naturally occuring pasta called, ahuatle.
