More specifically, this passage followed First Thessalonians 4:1-12. This was the clear turning point in the letter where Paul went from being happy about the Thessalonians faith to instructing them on how to do better. In verse one, Paul wrote, ââ¬Å"Finally,â⬠which marked the transition, and went on to write, ââ¬Å"we ask and urge you in the Lord Jesus, that as you received from us how you ought to walk and to please God, just as you are doing, that you do so more and more.â⬠Paul then went on to clarify some teachings about sexuality and brotherly love (1 Thessalonians 4:2-12). Presumably, Paul instructed on these topics specifically because some of the Thessalonians had been struggling in these areas. This section immediately followed First Thessalonians 3:6-13 which detailed Timothyââ¬â¢s report to Paul on his visit to Thessalonica. Since Timothy would have told Paul the problems the Thessalonians had been dealing with, it would make sense that Paul would have a ddressed them after discussing Timothyââ¬â¢s report. Since First Thessalonians 4:13-18 followed this section of the letter, Paul would have continued to discuss problems the Thessalonians were facing at the time. First Thessalonians 4:13 would confirm this thought because Paul stated in it, ââ¬Å"we do not want you to be uninformed.â⬠Clearly, this section was about correcting misinformation that was a problem in the Thessalonian church at the time. I believe that the murder of Desdemona was an honor killing. Othello thought that Desdemona brought him dishonor and gave him a bad reputation. While Othello was manipulated into murdering Desdemona, he was the one that had the physical choice. The contrasts between his thoughts on the two were considerable. Othelloââ¬â¢s immediate thought about Cassio was ââ¬Å"kill himâ⬠but he was more torn up about Desdemona. When explaining why he killed her to Emilia, he said ââ¬Å"she turnââ¬â¢d to folly, and she was a whoreâ⬠[V, iii, 146]. He didnââ¬â¢t care to listen to Desdemona. Othello killed her because he thought there was no other way to repair his reputation. He couldnââ¬â¢t live with the shame of an unfaithful wife. It was his honor versus his love, and he chose honor. This turns out to be the main theme of the story. If reputation were not a factor, Desdemona would not be dead. In the end of Othello, reputation trumps all else. Unlike his conservative colleagues, Keating employs decidedly unorthodox teaching methods and strives to teach more than just his subject matter, which is poetry. His goal is to inspire his students to suck the bone of life to the marrow, to seize the day and to make their lives extraordinary. In Keatings class, you learn passion, courage, romanticism, and, of course poetry. You pass if you avoid conformity and find your own voice, and you fail if you neglect to live life to the fullest. The impact that professor Keatings has on his students is eternal. His spirit will probably always live in his students hearts. Any teacher who is like Keatings is priceless. He wasnt just teacher of academics but a teacher of life. I have had some teachers similar to Professor Keatings, whom I will always remember. Professor Keatings techniques were unconventional but they inspired his students to the fullest. This film relates to the Intro to Education 150 course because the course is designed to cause one to reflect broadly on just what it takes to be an effective teacher. The course content, like the film, Dead Poets Society, helps us to focus our passion and interests in teaching.Education

Aztecs essays Around the early 13th century the Aztecs left their homes in Atzlan and started wandering through the Valley of Mexico. Living as mostly gathers in a migratory lifesyle, the Aztecs struggled to survive. They were eventually enslaved by another tribe. The Aztecs were, at this time, poor scruffy people, who were enen know to consume vermin, snakes and stolen food. They were rejected by mostly all of the surounding tribes. Basically they spent most of their time migrating from one place to another. Early in the 14th century, approximately 1325, Tenoch, their cheiftain, had a vision where, Huitzilopochtli appeared and told him to lead his people to a swampy island in the center of Lake Texcoco. The Aztecs belived that Huitzilopochtli, their "war god" was their protector and helped them search for the promised land. The Aztecs practiced out of a book known as the Tira de la Peregrinacion, also called the Migration Scrolls. After reaching the island in the cener of Lake Texcoco, the Aztecs saw an eagle on the top of a cactus. They took this as a sign that this was where they were supposed to build their city. Their city was called Tenochtitlan, also know as the city of Tenoch. At first life in thier new city was difficult for the Aztecs due to thier new, undesirable location. The city was located in a swampy marsh in the middle of an island, making the recources that the Aztecs new how to use extremely limited. At first the Aztecs just built mud huts to live in and a few small temples. They farmed by intaking an agricultural system called the Chinampas, which eventully made the land fertile and highly productive. The Aztecs also used fishing, hunting, and gathering techniques. The Valley rivers were filled with fish, insects, tadpoles, shrimp, and this extremely odd naturally occuring pasta called, ahuatle. The word Gestalt in English means ââ¬Å"form,â⬠ââ¬Å"shape,â⬠or ââ¬Å"patternâ⬠(Rune, 2010). Ideally, when a visual component set its self apart from the ââ¬Ëwholeââ¬â¢ shaped by a personââ¬â¢s intellect perceptual organization, it becomes very conspicuous in the eye of the observer. Usually, the shapes that are the most conspicuous are those that highly set themselves apart from their surroundings and identified by the viewer through mind motion. As a matter of fact, the human brain uses distinctive physical characteristics to differentiate objects from others. These characteristics can be categorized into four aspects including character, alignment, size and color. The aspect of color, which perceives texture, includes saturation, hue, and value. Size explains the surface area of a structure while alignment is the aspect that describes the array of structures with regards to their orientation, direction, or pattern (Feldsted, 1950). Character is the curvilinearity and rectilinearity of structures. Interestingly, most people are visual thinkers rather than data processors, and that is why they do not pay attention to huge blocks of information. This happens because people categorize what they see based on ââ¬Å"visual relationshipsâ⬠, instead of taking visual information and processing it uniformly. In the above illustration, chances are that a certain person may fail to notice the two circles but rather notice one red circle and one black circle. The reason why this happens is because, when a person is presented with simple things like two circles, they tend to find a way of differentiating them rather than just observing the two circles. And, so they came and stayed. Auntie Emma made the best chocolate chip cookies in the world, that was what even his mother admitted to on several occasions, while uncle Rob worked in a toy factory and wou ld bring a small toy every week. Usually it was little cars, tractors, Rubikââ¬â¢s cubes and similar. Nobody ever mentioned his father. He took off before Michael was born, and his mother decided not to talk about him. Well, not much, that is. She was always polite enough to answer his questions of: Mommy, why do John and Tim, and Bessie and Joanna have dads and not me? She would take him in her lap and explain that their dad is somewhere else, that he had some very important business to take care of and that she was not sure he would be coming back. But, that does not make Michael any different from John, Tim, Bessie, Joanna or anyone else. Having stopped daydreaming, he threw a small rock into the river and went back into the house to have lunch. The whole kitchen smelled deliciously of chicken soup and meat, mash potatoes, fresh salad and for dessert, pecan pie. ââ¬Å"Wash your hands, sweetheart and then come have lunch,â⬠auntieââ¬â¢s voice was soft and melodious, an d if he closed his eyes, he could imagine his mother saying it. The two sisters always looked and sounded very much alike. Having finished lunch, he was told to go to his room and tidy up a bit. His room was not a mess, but nonetheless he was taught that an ordered mind requires an ordered surrounding. He always believed his mother was the smartest person in the world. He started putting things away, and then noticed a stack of cards on the table. You donââ¬â¢t belong here, silly little things, he smiled to himself. It was a stack of cards, which his aunt and uncle borrowed from time to time when they wanted to amuse themselves. Arranging the cards, he noticed that one particular card was bigger than all the others. He took it out and saw that it wasnââ¬â¢t a playing card at all. It was a business card which said ââ¬Å"Need science helpâ⬠with a phone number. Nothing more. He thought it might be someone looking for an assistant. After a bit of consideration and talking w ith his uncle and aunt to see if they would approve, he decided to dial the number. He was always interested in science and liked knowing how stuff functioned. Maybe this was the person to ask such things.
